You may or may not have noticed.

I don’t write so much about work as I once did. I mean the last few posts have been about work and all but for the most part I like my job. I’d like to get paid more and what’s funny is that I asked about that because they don’t have me as a regular person who gets a review and a raise, they have me as a contract employee and the terms of my contract haven’t really changed over the last three years.

It would be nice just to get some kind of bump though at least to keep up with things.

I asked about it with no small amount of trepidation and they did come back with a boost but that was based on my salary being 5k less which meant a pay cut actually and I pointed that out but they still haven’t gotten back to me. I know I won’t get a pay cut but it’s an awfully good strategy in terms of keeping you happy with the money you are making.

I just got a nightmare project dumped on me but it’s one of these weird things they can’t really have anyone else besides me do which is funny. You’d think that might count for something but overall, I’m fine. Things are tight though, I’m not asking for more money because I’m greedy as much as needing to keep my head above water. I imagine things might be even worse if I wasn’t working.

Today I tried to get in some stuff before the end of the year and amazingly I had an implant put in.

So, my face is swollen and I have to get some kind of antibiotics which is a bit of an issue because my drug coverage ended in September and the new drug coverage doesn’t start until January.

The whole navigating coverage thing has been something of a dance because I moved into a different classification this year and am now eligible for some government programs that are place for everyone. You have to choose what that entails and I do that while at the same time navigating any coverage I might get from my gig.

Are we seeing a theme here?

Anyway, this is Christmas week so maybe I’ll get a present and get more money. I have to work this week but I’m not expecting it to be busy. However, I likely should put a caveat on that since they gave me this shit ton of work and expect me to start it. I’ve got other things to focus on too but me sense is that I will use the week to work around my own schedule.

That’s the thing I like best about the remote thing… I work and get things done but I don’t have to be rigidly tied to a nine to five schedule. It works way better for someone like me too.
